This budget-friendly product has been a favorite of many years (seriously, I remember my friend in high school using this primer!). It’s said to be an amazing base for makeup, and it can also be worn on its own if you’re just looking to make your skin appear more even.
I decided to give this primer a go, as I was curious by the hype and the reason all my high school friends used this primer. Is it really as good as people say? Did my friends lie to me?

How to Use the Baby Skin Primer
Maybelline’s Baby Skin primer has been popular for years, and for good reason. It’s cheap and supposed to make your skin look great. Here’s how to use it, which is also what I did for this review:
1. Start with a clean, moisturized face. Baby Skin primer works best on hydrated skin, so make sure to apply your usual skincare routine before using it.
2. Dispense a pea-sized amount of primer onto your fingertips or fingers and apply it all over your face. Avoid the area around your eyes, as this can cause irritation.
3. Allow the primer to dry for a minute or two before applying your foundation or concealer as usual. This is usually where I make my morning coffee…!
4. Sit back and enjoy your flawless complexion, or start applying your foundation and the rest of your makeup. I like to use Clinique Anti Blemish Foundation.
Maybelline Baby Skin Primer review: My thoughts on the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer after putting it on, and after wearing it for 8 hours
I was so excited to test out the Maybelline Baby Skin primer because I had heard a lot of good things about it for YEARS.
The primer went on smoothly and made my skin feel incredibly soft. This softness did worry me a bit in the beginning – would my foundation slip off? It blurred out my pores, which was super nice. There were no signs of my makeup not sitting right or sliding off while applying. On the contrary, my makeup went on more evenly.
After 8 hours:
Overall, the primer did it’s job. My face felt great. Not itchy, not tight, not “melting off”, not dry nor extremely oily. My makeup looked great in most places, except for my chin and around my nose. I’m super oily there and this is a recurring problem for me, so I was not surprised. However, a quick touch up with a beauty blender and a bit of powder quickly got rid of this problem easily. Below you can see what I mean with separation around my nose.
I would definitely recommend this primer to anyone looking for a good, affordable option. Though if you have very oily skin, you might have the same problem I had around my nose and chin. If you are not sure if you are too oily for this primer, I think it is worth it to give this primer a shot anyway. It is extremely affordable, and the problem I experienced is easy enough to fix for it to be worth it ;-).
